Groat of Edward III

Sam Dee asked for more details about the hammered silver coin pictured here, which he believed to be a groat of Edward III.

This definitely is a London groat of Edward III. Due to weakness in crucial areas all I can say is that it was struck during the fourth coinage of the pre-treaty period.

Valuation

The obverse would grade only Fair but the reverse is better. In its present condition I would price it no higher than £25-30.
