Continental Sceatta Series D
The finder of this coin asked to remain anonymous. It’s a silver sceatta but it is Continental rather than one of the types struck in England.
On the obverse is a square standard, within which are symbols. In the centre of the reverse is a cross pommee, which is surrounded by a pseudo legend. Therefore, this sceatta is an example of series D, type 8. In the Standard Catalogue it is listed as number 793.
Valuation
The coin would grade good VF and to a collector it should be worth up to £100.
