Charles I halfcrown
Andrew Melsom said he unearthed this coin during a group dig and the organiser asked him to get a valuation on his find.
The coin is a Charles I halfcrown, which was struck at the mint situated in the Tower of London. It’s an example of type 3A3 and it has mint mark R on both sides. It was struck during 1644 or 1645 when the mint in the Tower was under the control of Parliament.
Valuation
As is often the case, the flan is irregular in shape. The centre of the obverse is weak but the coin is otherwise in Fine condition with decent surfaces. As it stands, my valuation range would be £80-90.
