Contemporary forgery of Edward I penny

Darren White said he unearthed this coin in North Wales on the 29th of September. Darren said it looked rather peculiar so he asked if I could provide him with a full ID.

On the obverse there is a bust set within a triangle of pellets and the surrounding legend reads EDWR ANGL DNS HYB. On the reverse is a long cross with three pellets in each angle and the legend on this side reads CVI TAS LON DON.

The obverse is similar to Irish pennies of Edward I. However, the reverse is of the English type and the mint signature is for London. Forgeries and continual imitations of Edward I Irish pennies are known so what is this coin? The crude dies and the combination of an Irish obverse with an English reverse point towards this coin being a contemporary forgery.

Valuation

As a forgery would the coin have any commercial value? The simple answer is yes. This Irish/English penny would grade VF and if I was cataloguing it for sale at auction I would set the pre-sale estimate at £150-180.
