Elizabeth I sixpence

The Elizabeth I sixpence pictured here was unearthed by Mike Ruczynski, who asked for a valuation on his find.

The date isn’t altogether clear but I’d say it is most likely to be 1573. It could have one of three mint marks (ermine, acorn or eglantine) but this, too, isn’t clear.

This sixpence is a bit short of flan, both sides are slightly off centre and there are scratches on the obverse. On the plus side, the centres show up quite well.

Valuation

In its present state of preservation I would price the coin at £50 – £60.
