Description

“Female Centaur” type, Series S sceatta dating to c. A.D. 730 – c. A.D. 740 depicts a winged centaur with large breasts on the obverse and on the reverse a whirl of four wolves. This type is associated with joint East Saxon rulers Saelred (c.709-746) and Swaefbert (c.715-738).
