Description

This escudo was issued in the name of Joanna and Charles I, her son with whom she was nominally co-monarch. However, Joanna had little effect on national policy as she was declared insane by her father and imprisoned. Even when her son came to power, she remained imprisoned until her death and was known as Joanna the Mad.
