Medieval Padlock

A copper-alloy tubular padlock dating to 1150 – 1300 designated a Find of Note: County importance. It is in two parts (now fused together): the bolt slid into the barrel and was held in place by barb-springs. These were released by inserting a key into a specially shaped keyhole at the top of the barrel.
