Iron Age Bridle Fitting

A bridle fitting dating to 300 BC – AD 100. The circular openwork plate is cast from copper-alloy and attached to an iron pin. This composite construction is typical of horse-gear of the period and combined the decorative appearance of the copper-alloy with the strength of iron.
