Description

A copper-alloy saucer brooch dating to AD450-5 50 that has been gilded on the interior of the saucer. These brooches were worn in pairs on the shoulders by women or girls; gilded saucer brooches have been found in female graves in every part of southern and central England.

In this case the matching pair was found at the same time and recorded at the PAS as GLO-6A87D9
