Description

A cosmetic mortar with a bovine head at one end. Cosmetic mortars are particularly British in use and were in use from 100BC – AD300. They were used to grind mineral powder for cosmetic or medicinal use. The bovine heads us uncommon and hence this is a Find of Note: County importance.
